Some of my architecture student friends have their endless frustration about their nasty fellow students’ competition entries. Masterpieces of hypocrisy, full of irrelevant visual effects, which have nothing to do with their actual existing skills or competent. School of visual mist.
Last week I saw a show which reminded me of that very same problematic. Problematic of different kind of possible fillers in every creative field. You just can’t fake it.
There is no way to hide lack of attitude or skills. No laser will save you.
Fever Ray’s magical stage sets were NO fillers. Every sector – visuals, lights, scenery, music – just showed excellent taste of accomplishment. Firm style. Strong view. All the elements boosted strongly each other. The show was a visual fairytale, that reminds us that after all, there is some hope left. Let Karin Dreijer Andersson's crayon palette go crazy. She knows the package. "My music is a lot of everything".
And as one of my colleague crystallized: ”Fever Ray beats Lordi!”
At Tavastia my mind was wandering in this pic from last summer. Me, Anna and Inka heading Gula Villan. Very Fever Ray.
